You Need More Water When It’s Hot

Losing Water Through SweatI just looked at our 10-day weather forecast and we have nine straight days hotter than 90  degrees, several of them at 95 degrees or more. These will probably be the hottest days of the summer for us.

In my last post I wrote about how much water we should drink every day, a half ounce for each pound of body weight. That’s just to maintain our hydration through “normal” activity. That amount only replaces the water that we lose through breathing and flushing wastes from our bodies.

If we are outside when it’s hot then you need to replenish the additional water that you lose through your sweat. The same thing goes for when you are working out. If you do not drink enough water when you sweat then you risk over-heating.

I find it more convenient to carry a filtered water bottle with me when it’s hot so that I don’t have to worry about finding water. I can fill my bottle up at any sink or water fountain and know that I have clean, refreshing water to rehydrate with.

Disclaimer: I am a distributor of the filtered water bottle I mentioned above. If you buy one, you get a water bottle and I get paid so that I can feed my family.
