Standing Has Cardiovascular Benefits

Studies show standing has cardiovascular benefitsEverybody knows that it is important to get up and move every now and then. An excessively sedentary lifestyle can have a variety of health risks. Yet that is exactly what a lot of people spend most of their lives doing. When we are young we sit at desks all day at school then go home and sit at the table while we do our homework. When we become adults we get a job that still has us sitting at a desk all day. Our bodies are built for moving, not for sitting.

Spend Time Standing Every Day

I read an article recently on Time.com about how much time you should spend standing each day. It turns out that there are significant cardiovascular benefits to just getting off your butt for a period of time each day and either standing or moving about. They weren’t talking about exercise, getting your heart rate up, or anything like that. Just standing up.

The article referenced a research study published in the European Heart Journal that tracked 782 men and women for a week and how their activity affected key factors in cardiovascular health. They found that standing an extra two hours each day could lower blood sugar levels by 2% and triglycerides (fat in the blood) by 11%. They also saw improved cholesterol levels, lower BMI, and waist circumferences.

Those are some significant benefits, especially for people who have problems with blood sugar, triglycerides and cholesterol. That could include people who have diabetes and / or who have high blood pressure. That’s a lot of people who can gain benefit from just standing up for a bit. Maybe go take a walk during lunch at work or in the evening. You could even just get up and stretch or walk to the drinking fountain to get a drink of water.

Similar to Kenzen Bergisterol

Kenzen Bergisterol has cardiovascular benefitsBeing a Nikken distributor, I noticed that the cardiovascular benefits were similar to the reported benefits of drinking an ounce of Kenzen Bergisterol every day. I can’t say that Bergisterol works to the same degree as standing every day for two hours. There haven’t been any clinical trials for Bergisterol because even if there were, Nikken wouldn’t be able to use them and I wouldn’t be able to talk about them. Referring to a medical study when talking about nutritional supplements is the same as making a medical claim, and I cannot make any medical claims because I’m not a doctor and Bergisterol is not a drug.

Still, the official statement on Bergisterol is that it “helps maintain levels of triglycerides, blood glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol that are already within normal limits.” That looks very similar to the reported benefits of standing without stating how much they help those factors.

I am by no means suggesting that drinking an ounce of Bergisterol every day will replace standing up and moving around. There are a whole lot of benefits to moving that were not addressed in the study. I do believe that taking Bergisterol could complement those cardiovascular benefits very nicely though and help you achieve your goals in maintaining your cardiovascular health. I can tell you that I feel better when I drink an ounce of Bergisterol each night before bed than when I don’t.

  1. Hey Ben,
I have heard this before too and I would agree that you also burn more energy standing, hence the health benefits. It is wonderful to have all these things that can help us though, but yes nothing beats the real thing.
Your post is great, good luck with it and love seeing you on Twitter. Jennifer

Thanks Jennifer. I always appreciate your comments. Standing is great for when you can’t walk. I love walking or hiking. It’s my favorite physical activity and I could walk forever. A lot of people don’t realize what a simple activity like that can do for them. I also love my Bergisterol, whether I’ve had the time to walk, stand or not during the day.
