My KenkoLight is my regular desk lamp. I don’t even turn on the light fixture in my office anymore.
Anytime you buy a product from someone you always wonder if they actually use the product themselves. I am an independent Nikken distributor and I do use the products myself. I decided to write this series of posts to talk about the products that I use myself, why I use them, and what benefits I believe I receive from them.
Nikken introduced the first KenkoLight about a year and a half ago and a redesign as the KenkoLight II about six months ago. The KenkoLight is a full-spectrum lamp. What that means is that the lamp emits light frequencies across the entire spectrum, from red to blue. Further, the frequencies of light from the KenkoLight have been approximate the amounts of the various frequencies as they occur in natural sunlight.
That’s all great, but the science isn’t why I decided to get the KenkoLight. I bought mine because I can see better by this light than by the incandescent bulbs that are in the light fixture in my office ceiling. I have tried a so-called full-spectrum light bulb and, to be honest, I didn’t notice any difference. My wife liked my KenkoLight too, so I had to buy her one.
What do I mean when I say that I can see better? Have you ever played with a Rubik’s Cube or built with Lego’s? Under a regular light bulb the yellow and white faces on a Rubik’s cube can be difficult to tell apart. In the instruction booklets for Lego kits, light gray and white can be difficult to tell apart. Under the KenkoLight the colors are very easy to distinguish. It’s just like you were seeing them in front of a sunlit window. That’s what I mean by being able to see better.
So, it’s great for playing with toys and for artists or decorators who need to be able to see the colors they are working with. That still wasn’t my primary reason for buying it.
When you can see better you have less eyestrain. I am building my Nikken business entirely online so I spend a lot of time in front of my computer. With my KenkoLight my eyes don’t get tired. Did you know that a lot of the headaches people get at work are from eyestrain?
In my house at night, after the kids have gone to bed, usually there will be only two lights on – my KenkoLight and my wife’s.
