The Nikken Shower Filter

Do you have a shower water filter? Are you concerned about chlorine in your shower water?

Unless you are on a well, you probably have chlorine in your water. Chlorine is a toxic gas that was put in the water supply by your city or county to kill whatever might be living in that water. It doesn't automatically leave your water when it comes out the tap, so you filter your drinking water. Did you think to filter the water you shower in too?

Chlorine evaporates out of water at a a relatively low temperature, so while most of the water goes down the drain, the chlorine gas hangs in the air for you to breathe into your lungs. Chlorine is also readily absorbed by the skin and in a hot shower your pores relax and open, increasing the amount of chlorine that can be absorbed.

It is essential to have a shower water filter to remove the chlorine.

I have really enjoyed my Nikken shower filter. In addition to removing chlorine, I have found that it softens my water some allowing me to use less soap and shampoo to get clean. It is very easy to install and maintain without needing any tools. I replace the filter cartridge once a year, so it is pretty inexpensive to own.
