Q. How can I get an answer to my question?

A. Check the categories below for frequently asked questions. If your question isn’t there then submit you question in a comment at the bottom of this page. I will respond back to you as quickly as I can and I will add your question to this FAQ if I think it is something other people want to know too.

Ordering Questions

Q. Do you ship to my country?

A. I am an independent distributor for Nikken North America. As such, I can only take orders for the US and Canada. If you are not in the US or Canada then I can sponsor you as a distributor in your own country so that you can order directly from Nikken there, as long as Nikken operates in your country. Email me if you would like more information about this. My email address is at the top right corner of this page.

Q. How do I place an order?

A. On this website you can click on the picture of the item you want. If you are on a top-level page then clicking will take you to a second-level page with more information about that item. Click on the picture of the item on the second-level page and that will take you to the Nikken ordering site. There you can set quantities and add items to your cart. After you add an item you will see a light blue bar above the item with links to your cart and to check out. There is also a link to your cart at the top of the page and you can get to checkout from your cart.

Q. I am in Canada and cannot find my province in checkout.

A. When you first arrive on the Nikken order website you will be looking at US information. In the top-right corner of the page you will see an American flag and English. Click on English to open the drop-down box so that you can select the Canadian flag and either French or English. If you have already added items to your cart you will be notified that you are attempting to change your catalog. Click on the link for the Canadian Catalog. This will empty your cart. If you have too much trouble with this then just call me. My phone number is next to my picture at the top of this page.

Q. I am trying to check out and it isn’t accepting my credit card.

A. If you know that you entered your credit card information correctly and that you have plenty of credit left, then this probably has nothing to do with your credit card. You are probably trying to order an item that is out of stock, and Nikken’s ordering system doesn’t handle that gracefully at all. The best thing to do here is to either call or email me so that I can find out what the situation is with the item and see if there is another way that we can place the order for you.

Q. How long will it take for my order to arrive?

A. Nikken usually ships orders the same day they are placed or the next business day as long as they are in stock, which they usually are. Nikken is in southern California (Irvine), so if you are in the Western US then your order will probably arrive in a few days by UPS Ground. In the Eastern US it will take closer to a week. I live outside of Atlanta, GA and I usually have to wait a week for my orders. If you are in the Eastern US and ordering something small, choose US Priority Mail because it usually costs the same as UPS Ground and only takes 3 or 4 days to arrive.

Magnet Questions

Q. What will magnets do for me?

A. I’m not allowed to answer that because to give you the answer you want would mean me making a medical claim, which is illegal. The answer that I can give you is that they won’t hurt you, so it is worth giving them a try to see if they will help. Just don’t use them if you have an implanted device like a pacemaker or something. You should also avoid them if you are in your first trimester of pregnancy, or at least check with your doctor first.

Q. How do I know if magnets will work for me?

A. Try them and see. Start with something small and inexpensive like a Kenko PowerChip. The PowerChips are great because you can use them just about anywhere on your body. Another good item to start with are the magnetic insoles, either mSteps or mStrides.

Q. Will wearing a magnetic bracelet hurt my computer?

A. I cannot say for certain because I don’t know your computer. I can tell you that I have never had a problem with my laptop. My wife’s laptop has a magnetic sleep switch that detects when the lid is closed and my bracelet sometimes triggers it. It is an annoyance but hasn’t caused any data loss. The only time I have seen any problem was at a wellness fair when one of my business partners set his laptop on the table next to the PiMag Optimizer and above the Body Energizer while they were both running. The laptop screamed and he lost the use of his DVD-ROM drive. The computer itself was fine. You aren’t likely to ever put your computer into a situation like that (especially because neither of those items are available anymore.

Q. Do I need to take off my magnets at airport security?

A. I don’t think so, but since you have to take off your shoes, jewelry, and empty your pockets, you might as well. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Q. How long can I use the magnets at a time?

A. Nikken’s magnets are not excessively strong magnets and their purpose is to supplement the natural magnetic field that you would normally be exposed to if you spent more time outdoors. How often do you need to leave this planet to reduce your exposure to its magnetic field?

Sleep System Questions

Q. What is the correct way for the Naturest mattress topper to be positioned on my bed?

A. You sleep on the bumpy side, so it goes up. The tag on the pad goes at the head of your bed.

Q. What is the correct way for the Dream and Dream Light comforters to be positioned?

A. The tags are at the foot of the bed on the right-hand side.

Q. Will the magnets in the Naturest pad harm my laptop or other electronic device?

A. I’ve never had a problem. Just in case though, I would use a laptop on a tray so that it stays at least a couple inches away from the surface of the pad. I suggest the same thing for any other electronic device just to be safe.

Q. How long are the magnets good for in the mattress pad or comforter?

A. They should at least outlast the materials that the pad or comforter are made from. To test them I take a butter knife and make sure that a refrigerator magnet will stick to it. Then I hold the knife near one of the magnets in the pad or comforter to see if there is any amount of magnetic pull. The magnets aren’t strong enough to pull the knife out of your hand, but you should feel a little bit of pull.

Water System Questions

Q. How often do I need to change the parts in my PiMag system?

A. The Aqua Pour and Aqua Pour Deluxe – the filter cartridge should be changed every 6 months and the mineral rocks every 12 months. The microsponge pre-filter is good for up to  5 years or the ceramic pre-filter is good for 2 years.

The PiMag Waterfall – Nikken recommends that you replace the filter cartridge every 3 months and the rocks every 12.

The wall-mounted shower systems all recommend that you change the filter cartridge every 6 months.

The PiMag sport water bottle and the hand-held shower filter should be changed every 3 months.

Q. Where can I find the replacement filter parts?

A. All of Nikken’s regular replacement parts are available online here.

Q. One of the tanks on my Aqua Pour or Waterfall is cracked. What can I do?

A. Nikken has replacement parts for the Aqua Pour and they are all very inexpensive. Actually, in most cases the shipping charge is the most expensive part of ordering these parts. They are not available online so you will need to call me so that I can place the order over the phone with Nikken. The only restriction is that you have to have ordered your Aqua Pour or Aqua Pour Deluxe from a distributor, not from Ebay or somewhere else. Nikken may ask for the original order number. If you ordered your Aqua Pour from me then I should be able to find it for you.

Air System Questions

Q. How often do I need to change out the filter cartridges on my Air Wellness Power 5 or Power 5 Pro?

A. There is a filter change light on all of the Air Wellness units to tell you when a new filter pack is needed. If you clean the pre-filter screen regularly, every couple months, then the filter pack should last you a while. Of course it also depends on the air quality in your home. We have 2 kids who like to run in and out, open windows, a cat and 2 ferrets. With all of that, our Power 5 needs a new filter pack every 2 to 2.5 years. That’s just my experience and there is no guarantee that you will have the same.

Q. Where can I find the replacement filter parts?

A. All of Nikken’s regular replacement parts are available online here.

  1. Elaine says:

We have an older nikken mattress. Maybe 15 yrs old. I stopped using it when I bought a pemf necklace that was very expensive and she said I couldn’t use necklace with nikken. She also said battery would last 5 yrs, it lasted almost one yr to the day and she wouldn’t guarantee it. After buying the necklace we bought a different mattress and put nikken in storage. I’m now swapping new mattress for old nikken mattress. I think I read on your site the tag goes up and at the top left?
I deal with body pain, I’m excited to see if the nikken mattress helps. Between the necklace and the new mattress….this has been an expensive venture! After all this time is there any reason why my nikken mattress wouldn’t b any good? It looks good, no sagging. Thanks

    • Wayne says:

Hi Elaine. As long as everything is in its proper place then the mattress should work fine. Sometimes the magnets can work free of the glue that holds them in place, especially when if the mattress gets moved very much. It should be pretty easy to find out if any have by feeling around the edge of the mattress for any hard bumps, or on the surface where a loose magnet has found another magnet to stick to.

  2. michael pompeo says:

the ceramic Dome at the top of the water system has gotten green mold. it is only a few months that I replaced the Dome. why is this happening?

    • Wayne says:

Hi Michael. Mold or algae usually happens when the filter is exposed to sunlight. See if you can wipe it off the dome with something not too abrasive. Then when you reassemble it try to make sure that it is in a place that stays shaded.

  3. Mira says:

I have a pad for my massage table, I am thinking about getting a table warmer/electric warmer for it also, how will these two interact, is it okay to use a heating pad with it?

    • Wayne says:

Hi Mira. It should be fine. I’m sure there are a lot of people who use electric blankets with their pads and I have never heard of any problems. If there were, there would be warnings all over them.

  4. Bob says:

Do Nikken magnets lose power over time? I was trying to find an Elastomag Shoulder Wrap and the only ones I can find are on ebay. There are some new old stock, unused ones available but they are expensive. If the magnetic properties don’t degrade over time it may be worth getting one though.

    • Wayne says:

Hi Bob. In my experience, no they don’t lose strength. I’ve been a distributor since April 2006 and still use many of the magnets I bought in the first month. They still have their magnetic strength. I would be more concerned about the material breaking down. The Elastomag material had a tendency to stiffen and get brittle with age. If they are unused and still in their original packaging I think they should be fine.

  5. Lyle Boss says:

Do the magnets on my topper go on the top or the bottom of the 2 inch topper. ? THe pad has bumpy on both sides, but the magnets are attached only on one side. Do I sleep on the magnet side or do I put the magnet side down on the bottom. . ?

  6. Charles Richardson says:

Have any nikken products been designed to offset sleep apnea?

    • Ben says:

Hi Charles. None of Nikken’s products are designed to address specific medical conditions. I wouldn’t be able to sell them if they were because I’m not a doctor.
The mattress topper, pillow and comforter are designed to create a relaxed environment so that you can sleep better. My Dad sleeps with a machine. He slept with my topper and comforter a few nights ago and he said that he slept great. That’s really the best I can offer.

  7. Liz LaRue says:

Hi- I’ve had my water system 6 months- recently it stopped filtering, leaving water in the top half. Any suggestions?
    thanks
    liz

    • Ben says:

Hi Liz. The problem is air trapped between your filter and pre-filter. From your email it sounds like you have either the Aqua Pour or Aqua Pour Deluxe. If you use the sponge pre-filter then all you have to do is reach into the top tank and pull back one edge of the sponge to let the air out. Do it with a little bit of water in the top tank so that you don’t let more air in.
If you use the ceramic dome pre-filter, then the air may be trapped inside the dome. Lift off the top tank with the dome installed in it. Flip it over and fill the dome with water through the small hole in the bottom. Put your finger over the hole as you flip the tank back over then place it back on top of your filter. You want to lose as little water as possible until it is back in place. Refill the top tank and you should be good to go.

    • Timothy Neff says:

Hi. I took out my ceramic filter to wash it as mold was showing up. I put in my sponge filter. I soaked it first.
However, the sponge filters extremely slow.
      Why?
      Thank you for your help.
      Tim Neff

      • Ben says:

Hi Timothy. The problem you are having is usually because there is air trapped below the sponge. With some water in the top tank, pull back the edge of the sponge far enough to uncover the hole underneath it to release some air bubbles. Once they are out, you can tuck the sponge back in place and you should be good to go.

  8. TraklTrans says:

Yes, you do need to remove Nikken magnets when going through airport scanners. I was just sent back through and had to remove the 4 discs from my ankle brace.

    • All scanners seem to be different. My magnets set off the scanners at the courthouse in my county but they don’t in a neighboring county. I plan to take all of my magnets off before going through the scanner at the airport next week just to be sure.

  9. Alice says:

Can you please tell me which magnets I can use for my headaches – and how do I use them?

  10. Diane Fletcher-Hoppe says:

We have had our magnetic mattres for 14 years. Now my husband has a pacemaker and the company the makes them has warned us about magnets and electromagnetic field (EMF) interference. What do you know about this?

    • Hi Diane. Thanks for the question. From what I understand, pacemakers have two modes – a monitoring mode where it let the heart do the work and an active mode where the pacemaker sends out the pacing signal to control the heartbeat. A magnetic field can cause the pacemaker to switch modes. The person who told me that said that even the low level EMF from the scanners at airport security are enough to switch them.
Please verify that info with his doctor. In the meantime, he would be better off without the magnetic mattress unless his doctor says differently.
