Taste the Rainbow – Great Advice for Optimum Nutrition

I’m not talking about opening up a bag of Skittles candies. I’m talking about the rainbow of fruits and vegetables. Just look at all of the color in that picture. Isn’t it beautiful? The different colors of food contain different kinds of nutrients that are all essential for health.
Red: Tomatoes, beets, red peppers, cherries, raspberries, and cranberries are some good examples of red foods. Red fruits and vegetables are high is powerful antioxidants like lycopene and anthocyanins according to an article on WebMD. They are believed to be highly effective against heart disease and various forms of cancer.
Orange and Yellow: Cantaloupe, oranges, lemons, papaya, yellow peppers, and carrots are among the yellow fruits and vegetables. You already know about the high vitamin C content in oranges and lemons. Many of them are also high in alpha- and beta-carotene, which is what gives them their color. These nutrients are broken down into Vitamin A in the body and used to maintain the linings of our organs to help keep us safe from viruses and bacteria than could otherwise make us sick.
Green: Green is what most of us think about when talking about vegetables. They include broccoli, celery, green peppers, cucumbers, peas, and barley grass. They are a great source for the minerals we need, like iron, calcium, potassium, and magnesium. They can also be high in B, E, and K vitamins. Vitamins E and K help the body metabolize calcium and reduce the risk of osteoporosis.
Blue and Purple: These include grapes, blackberries, blueberries, purple cabbage, and eggplant. They are high in flavonoids, which have a whole host of benefits, like reduced risk of heart disease, reversing some of the effects of aging ( like memory loss ), and help prevent bacterial infections.
Many nutritional experts recommend eating 9 or 10 servings of fruits and vegetables in a variety of colors to maximize your nutritional intake every day. It also gives you a satisfying variety of flavors and a lot of natural energy.
And speaking of natural energy…
Nikken’s Jade GreenZymes
As I said in the introduction above, Jade GreenZymes is one of my favorite products from Nikken and is my favorite nutritional supplement. It isn’t really a nutritional supplement. It is food, and one of the best foods available to us.
Nikken’s Kenzen Jade GreenZymes is organic young green barley grass plus a proprietary blend of organic galactomannan, organic pearl barley extract, and organic kombu extract. It is all certified organic by the USDA.
Galactomannan is a food stabilizer and a water soluble fiber. Pearl barley is the barley grain processed to remove the hull and the bran. Nikken says that it is a good energy source for the body. Finally, Kombu is a brown seaweed popular in Japanese foods. It is a great source for many minerals.
The young green barley grass itself is grown in Japan under their stricter guidelines for organic produce. It is harvested at the point when it has the highest nutrient content and then cold-processed to preserve as much of it as possible.
In case you aren’t familiar with why cold-processing is important, when food is heated much above 100 degrees Fahrenheit a lot of the nutritional content gets destroyed. The enzymes are the first things to go. Keeping the enzymes intact makes it easier for your body to break down food without having to use up its own stores.
Benefits of Jade GreenZymes
- High in antioxidants – defense against free radicals and cellular damage
- Chlorophyll – good for detoxifying the liver
- High in amino acids – healthy cell metabolism
- High in dietary fiber – supports colon health
- High mineral content – regulates the body’s pH balance
- Great source of natural energy
Other things to know about Jade GreenZymes is that it is certified organic by the USDA, it is certified Kosher, and is gluten-free.
We have made Jade GreenZymes a regular part of our daily nutrition. You only take a teaspoon of the barley grass powder and mix it with cold water. We add in our daily ounce of Ciaga and it makes a nice drink to wash down the rest of our nutritional supplements. Our small kids like it too and it helps to keep them healthy even when the other kids at school get sick.
Disclaimer
None of these statements have been reviewed or approved by the FDA. Jade GreenZymes is not intended to be used to treat any condition that you may have. I am not a doctor and it is only my opinion that this barley grass supplement has helped my family stay healthy.
Current Nikken Promotions
Nikken is offering a couple promotions with Jade GreenZymes and they require an autoship. If you start an autoship with the barley grass supplement either in August or September 2010 and leave it on there for 90 days then Nikken will give you a $10 credit to use on a future order.
The autoship is a way to get consumable items delivered to you on a monthly basis and if your autoship has a volume of 100, then you get a 10% discount on the order. A 100 volume is roughly $120 before tax and shipping.
To be honest, the autoship doesn’t make sense for you unless you are going to order enough to get the 10% discount because of Nikken’s $8.50 minimum shipping charge. If you are interested in trying out an autoship then I suggest that you sign up as a Member for $12 US because that gets you another 15% off. Over the course of a few months this plan will save you more than the 20% that I regularly offer you as a subscriber to this newsletter. Contact me and we can figure out what will work best for you.
If you are interested in being a distributor, Nikken is offering a box of Power Patch magnets ($49) instead of the $10 credit for having Jade GreenZymes on your autoship for 3 months. I don’t want to actively use this newsletter to pitch the business, but I do want to make sure you are aware of all of the aspects of this promotion.
20% Subscriber Discount
The 20% discount code hasn’t changed from last month. It remains 201210. Please be aware that the code cannot be used on an autoship. To use the promotion code, add the items you want to your cart and go into checkout. On the first step of check out you enter your shipping information of the left side of the page. On the right-hand side is a box for you to enter your promotion code. Just enter 201210 in the box then continue with checkout. On the next page, verify the amounts, including your discount, then enter your credit card information and submit your order.
The promotion code is valid until December 31, 2010 and can be used as often as you need it.
One last thing before you go. I would appreciate it if you would leave me a comment below. Any questions or thoughts you have about what I have shared with you here would be great.
Thanks,
Wayne Woodworth
