If you follow Nikken then you know that the new magnetic mattress pads and pillows are made from natural latex. This change has had some people asking why the switch.

First off, some people are allergic to latex. It turns out that most of the people who think they have a latex allergy actually have a reaction to the powder or coating used in latex gloves, not the latex itself. Other people who have a reaction to latex actually react to something in synthetic latex and may not have any problems whatsoever with natural latex. In the case of the new pads and pillows, people shouldn’t have any allergy problems anyway because they never come into physical contact with the latex.

There are a number of reasons why Nikken chose to go with natural latex now instead of the artificial foams used in the past. Most importantly, natural latex retains its firmness better than any of the other foams that they looked at, giving the pad a longer life. It is naturally anti-microbial, which means that it resists mildew, dust mites, and any of the other little bugs that might otherwise try to live in there. It also naturally wicks away moisture and allows you body to maintain temperature better, so that you can stay in that deeper, rejuvenating sleep better.

The final reason for going with natural latex addresses a broader goal with Nikken, and a lot of other companies too for that matter, and that is to be more Earth friendly or “greener”. Natural latex is a renewable resource. It is harvested as sap from rubber trees and doesn’t require the destruction of the trees or other natural resources. It also doesn’t contain or emit any of the other harmful chemicals that are present in the synthetic latex manufactured from petroleum. Yes, that’s right, synthetic latex is made from oil just like plastic and a lot of other things. So, natural latex is much better for the environment, including the environment in your home, and is downright comfortable to sleep on.

Do you have difficulty sleeping more than a few hours at a time? Nikken has just launched a new magnetic mattress topper and will discontinue the current Ultra Kenko Pad once they run out. They are calling the new magnetic pad the Kenko Naturest Mattress Topper. There is also a new Naturest pillow as well that will replace the existing pillow.

The technology advances are cool but the most important thing is how people are sleeping. I used to have trouble getting to sleep at night until I started using Nikken’s current magnetic mattress pad, the Ultra Kenko Pad. Once that was on my bed I could fall asleep within seconds of laying down, and still do. The only down side to that magnetic pad is that it is very firm. If you like a soft bed then it probably took a little adapting to, and it did for me.

There are a few people who still had trouble sleeping with that one. Two people in my upline told me that before the Ultra Kenko Pad they would sleep very little. With that pad they could sleep 4 hours or so at a time and feel great. That was a significant improvement for them and they were happy with that.

Now comes the new Naturest mattress topper. These same people are saying that this new pad is helping them to sleep 8 or 9 hours a night. They might not get that every night, but even just 2 or 3 nights a week of sleeping completely through the night is a huge breakthrough for them.

The new magnetic mattress pad, or mattress topper as they are calling them now, is made using a natural latex rubber and a new magnet technology. Latex provides many benefits. It is a renewable resource, so it is good for the environment. The latex is much softer than the foam from the current magnetic pad, so it is more comfortable and easier to adjust to. Natural latex is also resistant to microbes and such, so it is cleaner and better for the body.

I don’t know much about the science behind the new magnets in the Naturest pad other than that they have figured out how to incorporate 3 magnets, offset from each other to some degree, into each node. They are calling this Radial-Axis Magnetism or RAM and it somehow creates a 3-dimensional magnetic cocoon effect that wraps the body and is able to pull you deeper into sleep.

While all of the new technologies are great, the important thing is that people who had trouble sleeping are now able to sleep through the night. Of course, there is no guarantee that you will experience the same results that they have. The cool thing about magnets is that they don’t have any negative side-effects, so it doesn’t hurt to try it out.
