It’s Fall and for most people in the US October is about apple cider and carving pumpkins. For us Nikken distributors it also means that it is time for Nikken’s annual convention and the new Nikken products that are introduced there every year. The convention was this past weekend.

Before I get into the new items though, there is something that goes with new items that I want to talk about. To make room for new items in the warehouse Nikken has to discontinue some older ones. This year there were three product lines that were discontinued. Two of them were a surprise to me.

The biggest surprise was that Nikken discontinued the complete line of Elastomag magnetic support wraps. These have been very popular items for a long time and I have had several customers who absolutely depend on them when a part of their body doesn’t feel 100%. It was announced back at the beginning of September that the Elastomag wraps would be discontinued on October 1.

I assumed that there would be something new announced at the convention to replace them. There wasn’t. The magnetic support wraps are being dropped completely, at least for now. Some of the wraps have already sold out. At the time that I am writing this, there are still several in stock, including the magnetic knee wrap and the magnetic elbow wrap. The second items to be discontinued are the Aqua Pour gravity water filter and the Aqua Pour Deluxe. When I heard this, also in early September, I was pretty sure there was something coming to replace it. Nikken invested a lot of time and money in the new filtration technology for the PiMag sport water bottle that came out in July and it was a safe bet that they weren’t going to just leave it there. More about that later.

The Aqua Pour is a very popular water filtration system and now that it has been discontinued, I’m sure there are many people who are worried that they won’t be able to get replacement parts. There shouldn’t be anything to worry about. From what I have seen, Nikken typically keeps replacement parts in stock for 5 or 6 years after the item has been discontinued.

The third items that have been discontinued are the metal link magnetic necklaces. My guess, and it is only a guess, is that they haven’t been selling well enough to keep carrying them. I think most people either want the less expensive PowerBands, or for women, the slightly more expensive and nicer looking women’s necklace. Regardless, I still like this simple magnetic necklace and they are all 15% off through the end of the month too.

Now for the new items. I will only list them quickly here then go into more detail in a new post.

• PiMag Waterfall – a new gravity water filter that replaces the Aqua Pour.
• KenkoLight II – an enhanced version of the full-spectrum desk lamp that was introduced last year.
• PowerChips – a new magnetic disk that will replace the Kenko Mini and Super Mini.
• PowerBands in neon green – a new color to expand the PowerBand sport necklace and bracelet line.

The PiMag Waterfall and KenkoLight II are both available now as part of the Vital Environment Pack. Everything will probably be available individually by the middle of November.

In the newest issue of my free monthly newsletter, August 2011, I talk about the power that our beliefs can have on our health and wellness. There are two areas that I point to as proof of how our beliefs can have a very profound affect, one is the placebo effect and it’s counterpart, the nocebo effect. Maybe you haven’t heard of the nocebo effect before. Where the placebo effects are the positive effects of using a placebo, the nocebo effects are the negative effects. When talking of a placebo pill, the nocebo effect would be the side-effects that people experience from thinking that they are taking a drug.

The second area of study that I look at is Epigenetics, which I learned about through listening to and reading material from Dr. Bruce Lipton. We have been taught that our genes control everything, but what controls our genes? That is what the study of Epigenetics is all about.

In future issues of the newsletter I intend to explore other areas that can affect our health. Sometimes it will be obvious things like water, nutrition, sleep and other times will be other things like energy healing, massage, and so on.

As you have probably already realized if you have looked around this website very much, I am a Nikken distributor and I believe very strongly in their products. I do use the newsletter to announce new product offerings from Nikken and talk about some of the technologies. I believe that once we know and practice all that we can about wellness we won’t need products from companies like Nikken. Until that day I intend to spread the word about their products as far as I can and this newsletter is part of that. I do promise to keep it to a minimum though and only talk about them when there is something new to talk about.

The newsletter is now just over a year old and I have only one request from all of  you who read it. Please give me some feedback, especially topics that you would like me to talk about.

Then I saw an American Express commercial that said that Saturday (yesterday) was Small Business Saturday.

And finally, tomorrow is Cyber Monday.

People often ask me if they can return a Nikken product if it “doesn’t work” after a period of time. Nikken’s return policy only covers the manufacture of the product, not its effectiveness for a particular condition, and there is a very good reason for that.

For Nikken to warranty anything other than the materials and craftsmanship of their products then that would be taken as a medical claim by the FDA, which would put Nikken, and all of us distributors, out of business very quick.

For example, take Nikken’s new Naturest magnetic mattress pads. They are the most expensive items that Nikken offers and I can understand someone wanting some assurance that they have made a good investment when they purchase one. Nikken’s documented warranty on a magnetic mattress pad says that they will replace it if it falls apart within a year of you buying it. Nikken cannot guarantee that the pad will “do” anything other than lay flat on your bed and provide you a surface to sleep on, and I’m telling you that it does provide a very nice surface to sleep on.

What else can Nikken say that it does without making a medical claim? A lady called me today asking about the Naturest pad and wanted to know if it would help her with her peripheral neuropathy. I’d love to tell her that it does, but that would be a medical claim, so I cannot. Same thing goes for her daughter’s migraine headaches.

Because the magnetic mattress pads are so expensive, I recommend that people start with less expensive magnetic products, like the Magsteps insoles, so that they can see how they will respond to the Nikken magnets before they make a big investment.

Even if there are documented studies that say that something works, Nikken still cannot make the claim without getting in trouble.

A week ago today Nikken launched an updated version of their Ciaga juice, Ciaga^V. It contains some very potent fruits: acai berry, maqui berry, elderberry, blackberry, grape seed extract, raspberry, and agave nectar. Last night Nikken hosted a teleconference to educate the distributors on the product and Dave Balzer strongly emphasized the asterisk on the label and what it meant.

You’ve probably seen the same disclaimer statement on other products: “*These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.” Federal law requires this statement to be on all dietary supplements and Nikken uses the statement a lot.

On the call last night, they said that the law restricts them from making statements that are even backed up by documented scientific studies. For example, they mentioned documented studies found on Pub Med that state that antioxidants found in blackberries have been found to be effective in curing and preventing cancer. Because Ciaga^V is a food-based dietary supplement, Nikken cannot use that study to say anything that would claim that Ciaga^V has any affect on cancer, or any other disease for that matter.

By the way, I found one study about blackberries and cancer here on PubMed.

So, please understand the reasons behind Nikken’s limited product warranties and their very conservative claims for what their products will do. If you hear any other distributors making wild claims about the products, please remind them that they are not doctors.

Here’s a good question that someone asked recently: “Do Nikken products really work?”.

Yes, of course they do. There is one thing to keep in mind though about the Nikken products. They don’t work unless you actually use them. I have actually had customers return product without even opening the package.

Will Nikken Products Work for You?

So how do you know if Nikken’s products are going to work for you or not? There are a few items that have some samples available, like the Jade GreenZymes and CM Cream. Other items are inexpensive enough to try in small quantities, like the Kenko Power Patches. Samples are a great way to try out the products to prove how well they will work for you.

A lot of Nikken’s items are expensive and don’t have samples available, like the bigger magnetic items. If people are concerned about an expensive magnet working for them, I usually recommend that try a less expensive one first. The Kenko Power Patches are great for this too. It is a great way to prove to yourself that Nikken’s magnets are effective then they can feel more assured that the more expensive ones will work too. Sometimes they find out that the less expensive ones will meet their needs and they don’t need the more expensive ones.

Someone told me recently that they believed that another company’s magnets must be superior to Nikken’s magnets because they are stronger.

There are companies out there who sell extremely high-powered magnets and that claim that exposure to just the negative pole is beneficial and exposure to only the positive pole is harmful. They also claim that these high-powered magnets help with cancer and the like.

Nikken’s magnets, by comparison, are much weaker. Nikken’s magnetic products also provide a balanced magnetic field created with both positive and negative poles with the intent of balancing the body’s energy field. Nikken also doesn’t claim that their magnets will cure cancer or any other condition. It’s actually illegal for anyone who isn’t a medical doctor to make those kinds of claims. By balancing the body’s magnetic field, Nikken’s magnets allow the body to do what it does best, heal itself.

The inventor behind Nikken’s magnets believes that it is irresponsible for companies to sell such high-strength magnets. The body’s energy system is very subtle. It has very weak magnetic and electrical fields. Magnets are used to create energy because they influence moving charged particles. High-powered magnets will create a lot of energy which will very easily over-stimulate the body’s energy systems.

While possibly beneficial for extreme cases like cancer, I believe that people who are generally healthy need to be cautious of using high-strength magnets. With all that said, Nikken has been making magnets for wellness purposes for 35 years with excellent results. They wouldn’t still be around otherwise.

We have had our Nikken Air Wellness Power 5 since we started with Nikken in 2006 and have really enjoyed the clean air and negative ions that it offers.  We have often heard how well plants respond to it and decided to see for ourselves.  My wife has a bamboo plant that has managed to survive for several years but never really did much.  We put it near our Nikken air filter and pretty much forgot about it until one day we noticed that it has grown up past the ceiling next to it (our living room is open to the second floor).  The plant is at least 4 feet tall.  Since that experiment has worked so well I decided to bring home a struggling plant from work to see how it does with the clean air and negative ions.

If plants do so well with the Air Wellness system, imagine how well our bodies respond to it.

Breathing easy thanks to Nikken

Magnetic insoles are probably the most obvious and well known of Nikken’s products.  They are the first product that Nikken released when they were founded back in the mid 1970′s, so the insoles have been around for a long time.  The magnetic insoles have been improved over the years and they still represent the core of what makes Nikken famous.

The first question people ask when talking about magnetic insoles is “do they work?”.  The great thing about magnets is that it is easy to prove that they do.  You put them in your shoes and either you feel something or you don’t.  It’s that simple.

When demonstrating the insoles to people I usually do one of two things.  To show people how magnets and magnetic insoles can make them stronger I use applied kinesiology, or muscle testing.  Basically, I have them stand in front of me with one arm stretched out to the side at shoulder height and their hand balled into a fist.  I push down on their wrist with two fingers and have them resist.  Without the insoles under their feet most people are usually pretty weak.  Then I have them stand on the insoles and repeat the procedure.  Most people are amazed at how much stronger they are with the insoles.

The second demonstration is probably even more amazing.  I have the person sit on the front edge of a chair with their feet flat on the floor and their arms together stretched out in front of them.  This time I push up while they resist.  In most cases their feet come up off the floor as they tip back in the chair.  Then I put the insoles under their feet and repeat the process.  This time their feet stay on the ground. To further prove that the insoles are the cause, I take one away and repeat it again.  This time the foot with the insole stays on the ground and the foot without the insole comes up.

It is my belief, based on my experience, that the nikken magnetic insoles improve energy flow through the feet to keep you better energized and better grounded.  Most people’s feet hurt at the end of the day if they have been on their feet all day.  The magnetic insoles help that condition.  I have heard from people who travel by plane that magnetic insoles, and other magnetic devices, help to prevent or ease the effects of jet lag.  I have even heard from some diabetic people that the insoles, and other Nikken magnetic products, have allowed them to keep their toes when they have been faced with amputation.  For their small cost they are at least worth trying.
