Problems With Preservatives

June 6th, 2009 No comments

I posted about a month ago about how there are so many companies out there pushing their nutritional juice and that most of them have preservatives.  Well, I received an email this morning from my upline about a comparison between our product, Ciaga, with a competing product.  I won’t name the other company because my point isn’t to bash them and their product, but to point out that you really need to watch out when preservatives are involved.

It turns out that their product includes Sodium Benzoate, a preservative, which can react with the high Vitamin C content to produce Benzene.  Benzene is an organic solvent that is known to cause cancer and liver damage.  I recommend that when you are going to put something in your body, you read the label first and see what it is.  Reconsider products with artificial ingredients because you never know how they will react with the other chemicals added, or the food itself.  Consider 100% natural or,  better yet, organic alternatives that contain only what is advertised and promote better living.

Our product, Ciaga, is 100% natural containing 97% juices and 3% fruit solids.  It contains no preservatives, added sugar, or added water.

BTW, I also found out that added water means “reconstituted from dried fruit powder”.  Ciaga is definitely NOT reconstituted.

Nutritional juices

May 13th, 2009 3 comments

Have you ever noticed how there are a ton of nutritional juice products out there all claiming to be the best?  Xango, Goji, Vemma, Ciaga, Mona Vie.  I know there are plenty more.  I recently had two people from a company that was new to me want me take a look at their product.  Sure enough, it was a juice product.

When looking at a new drink I always go straight for the nutritional label.  I want to know what’s in it.  The things that always concern me is added water, usually purified by reverse osmosis (highly acidic), and added preservatives.  They aren’t added because they are good for you.

I promote Ciaga, an organic juice with no added water, no preservatives, and a high ORAC (antioxidant) rating.  Until someone can show me another juice that compares with that, I’m going to stick with my Ciaga.  I only need to take one ounce a day, it is sweet, and my kids love it.  What more could you ask for?

Immunity Boosting Mushrooms

March 9th, 2009 No comments

Nikken has an immunity supplement that is made from a blend of 14 medicinal mushrooms and I have had good results with it, both for myself and my kids.

I purchased the book Conquering ANY Disease while at a seminar and found some amazing information about five of the mushrooms that are in Nikken’s Immunity supplement.

In Chinese clinical studies Cordyceps mushrooms were shown to alleviate fatigue, improve memory and cognitive capacity, and improve cold tolerance.  Cordyceps mushrooms also help patients with respiratory diseases to feel stronger.  They boost immune function and improve the liver’s ability to detoxify.

Agaricus Blazei is legendary in Japan for its immune system benefits.  Agaricus’ extremely high beta glucan content can cause the immune system to boost its production of white blood cells, which make us more resistent to disease.  Research in Japan has also confirmed that Agaricus stimulates and enhances the macrphages that destroy or stop the multiplication of damaged cells, giving it a profound effect on cancer patients.

Shitake and Maitake mushrooms are also packed with beta glucans, which are clinically proven to inhibit cancer cell growth, remove plaque and dilate the arteries to reduce blood pressure, increase the bodies white blood cells and stimulate the immune system.

Reishi mushrooms have long been a symbol of longevity in Asia. Of all the Chinese herbs, Reishi mushrooms are the most powerful for strengthening the immune system.  In Japan, Reishi mushrooms are used to manufacture an approved anti-cancer drug.  It has been used to help people with allergies and asthma because the Ganoderic Acid contained in Reishi mushrooms has been shown to inhibit histamine release and improve oxygen utilization.  It has also been used to help against AIDS, Leukemia, and coronary heart disease.

These are just five of the potent mushrooms that are found in Nikken’s Immunity supplement.

Nikken’s Jade GreenZymes and Allergies

Have you tried barley grass to handle your allergies?

I have had pollen allergies since I was just a year old and they got worse when I moved to Georgia, where the pollen is so thick in the Spring that everything turns a yellow-green color.  I quit taking any medication for my allergies when I was still young because every couple years I had to switch to something else as my body adapted to the medication and it became ineffective.  I have found that taking Nikken’s Jade GreenZymes barley grass supplement three times a day during pollen season almost completely takes care of it.  I have gone from having sinus congestion that lasts about 9 months a year to having clear sinuses all but maybe a few days a year.  It has been amazing.

In my training as a massage therapist I learned that a lot of our problems can be taken care of with food, and food is much safer than taking drugs.  Barley grass is one of nature’s perfect foods, along with blue green algae, so what better way to take care of your allergies.

A Study of how Osteodenx supplement affects Osteoporosis

February 20th, 2009 4 comments

I received an email this morning about a new study reported in Osteoporosis International about Nikken’s Osteodenx bone supplement.  The conclusion of the study is that “R-ELF supplementation demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in bone resorption and increase in osteoblastic bone formation, to restore the balance of bone turnover within a short period”.  The English translation is that milk ribonuclease enriched Lactoferrin supplements, Osteodenx in this case,  reduce bone loss and increase bone formation to restore the normal balance within a short time.  That is very exciting news.

The study was done with postmenopausal women with osteoporosis and was conducted by a team of scientists that included Dr. A.S. Narain Naidu, who created Nikken’s Osteodenx and Lactoferrin supplements.

With that, it is safe to say that if you have bone density issues, like osteoporosis, you can try Osteodenx and probably get some nice results.

Nutritionals Cocktails Keep My Kids Healthy

Have you had your nutritionals today?

There are a lot of wellness companies that promote nutritional products.  You probably know at least a few that sell some kind of juice, such as Monavie or Xango.  The problem with these companies in my opinion is that is all they sell, just one product.  Nikken has a fairly wide selection of nutritional supplements that target very specific areas, such as liver support, bone density, or immunity.

I want to talk about three of Nikken’s core nutritional products, Ciaga (a high antioxidant juice)Jade GreenZymes (young green barley grass powder), and Immunity (a blend of 14 mushrooms with immunity boosting properties) and the effect they have had on my kids.

I have 2 young kids who are very healthy and almost never get sick, even during flu season.  They don’t get flu shots and are in preschool with other kids who seem to be sick all the time.  If they do get a little sick it is only a minor fever and congestion that lasts only a day or so.  I credit that to Nikken’s nutritional products, namely Ciaga juice, Jade Greenzymes barley grass, and the Immunity supplement.

For them we mix their nutritionals together into a “cocktail” that they seem to love.  It doesn’t take much, just an ounce of Ciaga, a teaspoon of barley grass, and the powder from one Immunity capsule stirred together with a little water.  My son will even run his finger around the inside of the cup to get the last drops out.  We do this once a day and it does a great job of keeping them healthy.
