Can Magnets Help Fibromyalgia?

July 29th, 2009 No comments

I was asked yesterday if magnets can help with fibromyalgia.  I would like to be able to just say “yes” and move on, but that would be irresponsible and get me in a whole bunch of trouble with Nikken and the FDA, so I won’t.

Before I go any farther,  I want to make it completely clear that I am not a doctor, I cannot diagnose whether you have fibromyalgia or any other condition, and I cannot prescribe anything for any condition that you may have.

So, what can I say about fibromyalgia?  Well, for one, medicine hasn’t actually decided what exactly fibromyalgia is.  It is closely related to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and the lines between the two conditions appear to be very blurry.  It is classified as one of the many auto-immune conditions where the immune system attacks the body as if it was an attacker.  People who have fibromyalgia usually complain that their whole body hurts all the time, and it is a chronic condition, which means that they will probably have it for a very long time and maybe the rest of their life.  People with fibromyalgia don’t usually have much hope of getting out of pain, which is a really sad way to have to live.

I read a good description of fibromyalgia on another site.  It said that it is an inflammation based condition.  For whatever reason, inflammation is triggered and it stays on, becoming chronic.

As a Nikken consultant I have heard many people report that problems with inflammation have improved after using the magnetic sleep system, insoles, and the biaxial magnetic rotation products.  I have also heard several testimonials in regards to fibromyalgia specifically.

As I said before, I’m not a doctor, so I cannot tell you that magnets will help you if you have fibromyalgia.  I will say that magnets have been determined to be completely safe, unless you have a pacemaker or some other battery-powered implant.  With that said, my recommendation is that if you want an alternative to living with pan, give the Nikken magnets a try.  Use the sleep system, insoles, and always drink plenty of water (we are 70% water and need to stay hydrated) for 3 months.  The worst that can happen is that nothing happened, and just maybe something might.

Why Not 10,000 Gauss?

July 27th, 2009 No comments

Nikken doesn’t have any products with the extremely high Gauss ratings that you can find from some other products online. I have received questions from several people who think that the stronger magnetic fields will do better for them.  I haven’t been able to give them a good answer until now because I’m not an expert on magnetism and its effects on the body.

While not an official Nikken response, the answer comes from the man who has invented and developed several of Nikken’s magnetic products, Anthony Bove.  Basically, those high Gauss magnetic fields can generate too much electricity and heat in the body.  If you want to get more into the science and all of that then you are welcome to look up things like Faraday’s Law and Lorentz Force.

More telling for me is to look at thermographic images from before and after actually using the magnets.

Notice that when the thermographic image first shows up, the subjects toes are cold (black) and by the end they are warm (white). That’s what really matters, and this is just from a pair of magnetic insoles (MagStrides in this case).

Extend the Life of Your Nikken Air Filter

July 15th, 2009 No comments

Do you have a Nikken air filter?  The replacement filters for you unit should last you for a long time, possibly up to three years, if properly taken care of.  Our first pack lasted about a year and a half and it had to put up with a lot.  We had two cats (one was long-haired), and two small kids who liked to run in and out of the house a lot.  There was a lot of dirt and cat hair that the filter had to deal with.  The replacement has lasted just as long so far.

How do you get your filters to last this long, or longer?  Vacuum it out regularly.  When you vacuum the area where you have your Nikken air filter set up, take a minute to vacuum off the pre-filter screen.  Once every month or so, unplug the unit, take the filter cartridges out and clean it out good.  I like to vaccum off each filter stage and the sides and bottom of the box where they sit.  Then make sure that you put the filter stages back in correctly before plugging it in and turning it back on.

Another key area to clean to keep your unit functioning properly is the particle senser.  When you clean your air filtration system, take a moment to vacuum out where the sensor is and wipe off any dust in that area.  If your system often kicks up to turbo and you don’t know why, the reason could be dust in and around the particle senser.  Just unplug the system and clean off this area and it should go back to working as it should.

This will help your replacement cartridges last longer and keep you Nikken air filter functioning properly for a long time.

I received this great testimonial about Nikken’s True Elements Skin Care.

My sister game me the True Element skin care program and it does not burn my eyes, my skin is soft, including my neck, my wrinkles are minimal.  This is the best skin care package I have ever used and I look younger.  It is a refreshing, non greasy, natural and complete essential skin care that I love!

Catherine from Colorado

This was completely unsolicited and she isn’t even my customer.  She found my site and decided to leave me this comment and I am very grateful to her.  I have hear great things from other distributors and from my wife but had not heard anything from someone who doesn’t have a financial stake in the product.  Now I have and so have you.

Check out True Elements Skin Care.

Do You Have a Water Filter in Your RV?

July 10th, 2009 No comments

My parents take their gravity water filter from their house with them in their RV when they go camping.  That’s a great idea because when you travel from one place to another, the quality of the campground that you stay at can vary a lot from one place to another, as can the water quality.  It was after they took a three month trip in their camper that they became concerned about the water they were getting because they stayed in a lot of different places.

A gravity water filter turns out to be very convenient when traveling in an RV.  The one my parents use can be quickly and easily disassembled and stowed for traveling and just as easily reassembled when they get to their destination.  It also fits very nicely on their limited counter space.

Most people don’t think much about it but a water filter is almost more important when you are traveling than when you are at home because you really don’t know if the pipes that you connect to are properly maintained and really that clean at a campground.  Also, it seems that some places have more chlorine in the water than other places do.  It is important to get that chlorine out of the water before you drink it because it is a poison put there to kill what’s in the water.

To find out more about why water filtration is important and to help you choose the best system for you, check out my FREE water filtration report.

If you would like to see the system that my parents use, and my grandmother too, look at the free-standing gravity water filter on my water filter page.

Are You Acidic? And Why Should You Care?

July 8th, 2009 No comments

Acidity is a big problem that causes even bigger problems.  So, do you have problems with acidity?  A lot of people do.

Before I get in too deep, I have to say here that I am not a doctor.  I don’t diagnose problems, prescribe anything, or treat anything.  Ask your doctor before you try anything new, especially if you already have real issues.

First, are you acidic?  It is easy to find out with a piece of litmus paper by testing your saliva.  It is best to do it first thing in the morning before you’ve had anything to eat because the chemicals in your food with throw off the results.

Why do you care if you are acidic?  An acidic condition is a huge burden on your body.  It has to maintain an environment that is slightly alkaline, between 7.2 and 7.4 on the pH scale.  Acidosis is the name for the condition when a person gets too acidic.  A person who gets too far out of this slightly alkaline range will die because certain life-sustaining chemical processes cannot take place.  It is that important.  Since the body’s first concern is self-preservation, it will do everything it can to maintain that pH balance.

Calcium and a few other minerals are used to buffer acid in the blood and those minerals are stored in the bones.  Calcium is also used by the body to build strong bones and to regulate the heart beat.  Here’s a good article about how calcium is used to beat the heart.  So, if the blood is using all of the calcium to buffer acid, what is going to build strong bones and beat your heart?  See the problem?

What are the causes of acidity and how do you fix them?  Diet and stress are two of the biggest causes.  Let’s deal with stress first because diet is the bigger topic.  Stress causes your body to flood itself with adrenaline, which is acidic.   Normally, this is a good thing because it gives us the heightened awareness to deal with a dangerous situation.  The problem for us is that we constantly put ourselves into stressful situations and never give our bodies that chance to flush the adrenaline out and take a break.  A good night’s sleep is the best solution.  I’m talking about a full 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.  How often do you get that?  Meditation is another good idea.

Now let’s address diet.  Diet is what you eat, whatever that may be.  Most people have a highly acidic diet.  Fast food, processed food, meat, soft drinks, you name it.  If it isn’t a fresh vegetable or water then it is probably acidic.  Actually, the water a lot of people drink is acidic too if it is a purified bottled water or comes from a reverse osmosis or distillation system.  A lot of people don’t eat their vegetables either.  So, how do you fix it?  It is simple.  Eat a lot more veggies, drink a lot more water, and cut back on the rest of the stuff.

Don’t get me wrong on this diet thing.  I’m still not a big fan of a lot of vegetables and I love a lot of acidic foods.  It is something that I’m still working on.  One thing I was able to do though, and I recommend you do too, is to cut out carbonated soft drinks and replace them with water, alkaline water.  The added carbon dioxide that makes the fizz also joins with the water to make carbonic acid.  I’ve heard that it takes 30 glasses of water to neutralize the acid in one can of soda.  It has become such a problem these days that teenagers are being diagnosed with osteoporosis, which used to be a disease you heard mostly associated with elderly ladies.

My recommendations:

Once you have started to take control of your acid then you can think about a calcium supplement and other things to restore the proper balances in your body.  Also, check out my blog post about Osteodenx, a bone density supplement.
